Paul Cézanne (January 19, 1839 - October 22, 1906) was a post-impressionist painter, and his work was believed to inspired many cubists and impressionists. He left his hometown of Provence for Paris in 1861 to pursue his artistic career. It was there that he met Camille Pisarro, who became Cezanne's mentor and taught him while he was there.
