Beresford Dale is a narrow tree lined dale, hemmed in by limestone cliffs. On the right high above the dale stood Beresford Hall. A tower built close to the sight of the old hall is all that remains. The tower is visible along the path from Hartington.

Description Waypoints (1) This is a fantastic circular route along three interconnecting limestone dales in the Peak District National Park, starting from the village of Hartington. Beresford Dale is a beautifully gentle tree-lined dale, along which the River Dove flows.

Route follows an anticlockwise direction. 1. Turn left out of the car park and walk for 50 metres along the pavement until you reach Hartington Farm Shop and Café. To the right of the café are the public toilets, and in between the toilet block and the café is a public footpath. 2.

Trail directions. Step 1. Start your walk at the three-pointed signpost by the bus stop in the centre of Hartington village. Walk south along Mill Lane, passing the Charles Cotton Hotel on your right. Immediately after the Hartington Farm Shop & Cafe, turn left and follow the footpath that runs between the Farm Shop and the toilets.
